Jewish Heritage Tour to Israel by Tailor Made
Day 1
Arrive at Ben Gurion International Airport, where, during a festive reception by a Tailor Made Tours representative with flowers and a refreshment s table, we meet our guide and driver.  Transfer to Tel Aviv.
Overnight in Tel Aviv
Day 2
In the morning we embark on a tour of Tel Aviv, the city that never stops.  We first visit the “Beit Hatefutsot”, the Museum of The Jewish Diaspora which tells the history of the Jewish People in the various lands they lived in.  Continue to The Palmach Museum, to get an understanding of Jewish and Israeli pre-statehood military operations and combat.  Our next stop is Independence Hall, once the home of the Tel Aviv’s first mayor and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.  In May 1948 it was here that David Ben Gurion announced the independence of the State of Israel.  On to Rabin Square, one of the largest in Tel Aviv.  Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated here in 1994.  We will see the moving memorial on the site of the assassination.  Visit the old port of Tel Aviv which was transformed to a vibrant entertainment district.

Day 3
This morning we leave Tel Aviv and drive along the coastal road to Caesarea, built by King Herod The Great as the country’s main port and named in honor of the Roman emperors.  Later it served as an important Byzantine center and a Crusader stronghold.  We will see the Crusader ruins, the theater and the hippodrome, as well as the new multimedia show.  On to Zichron Yaacov, one of the first Jewish settlements founded in Israel and funded by Baron Edmond de Rothschild in 1883.  Continue to Haifa, where from the top of Mount Carmel, we will view the magnificent Bahai temple and gardens.  Drive to Acre (Akko), once the Crusader capital of the country, where we will walk along the narrow alleys and visit the Knight’s Halls.  Drive to the Sea of Galilee.

Day 4
In the morning we ascend to the Upper Galilee Mountains and visit Safed, the city of Jewish Mysticism (also referred to as “Kabbalah”).  We stroll among the narrow streets, now full of art galleries and craft shops which are part of the Safed Artist Colony. Continue for a Jeep ride in the Golan Heights and then to Katzrin.  Here we visit the ancient synagogue and visit the famous Golan Heights Winery and The Golan Olive Mill. On to Mount Bental, where we enjoy the magnificent view, visit the old military bunker and understand the strategic importance of the Golan.  We end the day in Gamla, one of the major battle sites during the Jewish revolt against the Romans. 
Overnight in Kibbutz on the Sea of Galilee
Day 5
In the morning we descent from the Upper Galilee and visit Ztippori (Sepphoris), this was a large city during Talmudic times and an important seat of rabbis and sages.  It was excavated and partially restored and we will see the impressive remains, including the beautiful mosaic of a young girl often dubbed “Mona Lisa of The Galilee”.  On to Kfar Kedem, the only place in the country where you can combine all your senses to experience life in the Galilee during Biblical times.  As a special treat, a homing pigeon will carry your message after you finish the visit.  Continue to Beit Shean, once a large Roman city, part of the Decapolis alliance.  The history of Beit Shean goes back at least 5000 years, and archeologists found here over 18 layers of habitation.  After the visit we head south through the Jordan River to Jerusalem.  Upon arrival to Jerusalem we will have a special “Shehecheyanu” ceremony at the Hass Promenade overlooking the entire city.

Day 6
We begin our day on top of The Mount of Scopus, where we enjoy the beautiful views over Jerusalem.  Continue to Mount Zion, where we visit the Tomb of King David.  We enter the Old City through the Zion Gate and walk along the renewed Jewish Quarter to visit the Roman Cardo and the Herodian Mansions.  We arrive at the Western (or “Wailing”) Wall, the holiest place for Jews in the world.  Walk through the amazing Western Wall Tunnels and the inspiring Generations Center telling the fascinating story of  the Jewish people throughout the generations.  Visit Davidson Center and the excavations of the Southern Wall.  Later today we will have the chance to walk through the colorful bazaars and visit the Temple Institute.

Day 7
Today is Shabbat and we will have a day at leisure to celebrate the holy day.

Day 8
Today is dedicated to sightseeing in the new city of Jerusalem.  We start at Yad Vashem, the national and official memorial to the Holocaust.  Continue to Mount Herzl for a visit to the tombs of Yitzhak Rabin, Golda Meir and other leaders.  Drive by the Knesset building, the Israeli parliament and see the giant Menorah – the symbol of the state.  At the Hadassah Medical Center, we visit the synagogue and marvel at the magnificent stained glass windows by Marc Chagall.  The windows depict the twelve tribes of Israel.  Continue to The Israel Museum where we visit the Shrine of The Book housing the famous Dead Sea Scrolls, as well as the model of Jerusalem during the time of the Second Temple.  At the end of the day we return to the Hass Promenade to enjoy the sunset over Jerusalem.

Day 9
Early this morning we descend to the Dead Sea area, the lowest place on Earth.  We visit Qumran, the ancient site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were written and found by archeologists hidden in caves.  Visit The Ein Gedi Oasis where King David his from the wrath of King Saul.  Continue to Masada, the fortress built by King Herod as a summer retreat and later used by the Jewish Rebels in the battle against the Roman legions.  We ascend the mountain by cable car and the visit the famed archeological site, including the palaces, bath house and vast storerooms.  After the visit to Masada, we will have the opportunity to swim in the Dead Sea and experience the unique feeling of floating on the water.  Return to Jerusalem.

Day 10
Drive to Ben Gurion International Airport for our departure flight.
